Congress is going ahead with a huge majority of votes in Karnataka, now the task that is challenging the party is, "Who is going to be the chief ministerial candidate?" Both the names of senior leader Siddaramaiah and PCC chief DK Shivakumar have been prominently heard in the CM race since the beginning.
Now the time has come to form a new government in Karnataka. The present CM is said to have submitted his resignation letter this evening. Meanwhile, we hear that the Congress party is planning to host the swearing-in ceremony at Kanthirava Stadium in Bangalore on May 15. It is to be noted that May 15 also marks the birthday of Congress-PCC chief DK Shivakumar, who has been very active in party affairs since the beginning.
If we look at a statement given by DK Sivakumar earlier on this occasion, DK announced that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi promised to give him a gift on his birthday. People are discussing in the state what gift the leadership would give him. While the MLAs are likely to choose the CLP leaders in the SLP meeting tomorrow (Sunday), there is a possibility that the CM's choice will be clarified later in the evening.
"Do all the supporters want me to be the CM? (addressing the media), I have no special supporters. The entire Congress Party is supporting me. This victory is a collective victory for everyone. This victory is dedicated to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi," said DK on the CM candidate race.
