Rahul Gandhi undertook the Bharat Jodo Yatra a few months ago. Although BJP leaders mocked the Yatra and made fun of the Congress leader, it turns out that the Yatra showed impact on the ground, at least in Karnataka.
As per an analysis of the Karnataka Assembly election results done by a researcher named Feyaad Allie, the Congress party improved its strike rate from 24% in 2018 to 76% in 2023 in Assembly constituencies covered by RaGa's Yatra. The strike rate stands for "seats won as a share of seats contested".
Congress polled a 2.9% higher vote share compared to constituencies where the Yatra didn't take place. In the constituencies where the Yatra didn't happen but happened in an adjacent constituency, a 2.5% higher vote share has been grabbed by the Congress party in the recent elections.
In a Hindustan Times article, the analyst wrote, "The Congress won 16 of the 21 seats that the Yatra passed through, up from 5 in 2018."
