BJP attacks Obama, Congress hits back in a silly fashion

Barack Obama, the former US President, recently commented that India will be pulled apart if it continues to (allegedly) trample upon the rights of its minorities, especially Muslims. Obama's remarks have not been received well by the ruling BJP. Also, many commentators see his remarks as a veiled threat that India will be balkanized with the help of hostile, external forces.

On Sunday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took Obama to the cleaners by reminding him that he bombed six Muslim-dominated countries and dropped thousands of bombs on innocents during his tenure as the US Prez. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been feted by half a dozen Muslim countries. The FM also wondered how Obama is never called a genocider.

The Congress' response to Sitharaman's criticism of Obama is immature. Sanjay Jha wrote an unintentionally funny tweet. "Yes, Barack Obama bombed a few countries. But he was never accused of genocide. Why is that you think? (sic)."

Many Twitter users reminded Jha that Obama has been described as a war criminal by a number of commentators. "Obama has never been called a genocider because he has had lapdogs in the Western media hailing him as a statesman," a Netizen wrote.
