Bonalu is the important festival of Telangana and people of the state celebrate it with much religious fervor. After the formation of Telangana, CM KCR and his BRS government ensured that Bonalu gets due recognition after decades of negligence under the Andhra rule.
Today CM KCR, Kavitha, and all the leaders of the political parties celebrated Bonalu. CM KCR along with his wife Sobha visited the renowned and powerful Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad and presented silk robes and bonam to the Goddess Mahankali with great devotion.
KCR was accorded a welcome in a traditional manner as per the temple rituals by the priests with Poona Kumbha. KCR performed a special pooja at the temple. The Bonalu festival begins with the worship of village deities during the month of Ashadham. The Mahankali Bonalu is a state festival in Telangana.
KCR's daughter MLC Kavitha participated in the Bonalu festival at the Monda market and she was welcomed by Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Dy Speaker Padmarao Goud, and the temple priests. After the pooja, she carried the Bonalu in a traditional manner. Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy along with his wife visited the temple and offered prayers.
