TRS has just been officially renamed as BRS, i.e., Bharata Rasthra Samithi. The party considered this as a good omen that the EC has accorded its new status with a new name. Already, there are many accusations and ridicule directed at BRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao. In his own style, he dismissed them as something that always happens for him when he starts something new.
KCR added that this ridicule is not new for him and every time, he proved his detractors wrong. Now, the results of Gujarat polls have given a new challenge to political parties about unseating BJP from the center. At the same time, there is also an equal opportunity being presented for the newly created BRS in Telangana region. The BJP won a record mandate of 156 seats in the 182 seats fought in the elections. At a time when there was a talk that after more than 27 years in power, there might be strong anti-incumbency against the party, in fact completely opposite has happened now. This is because of a strong performance in development and a weak opposition, according to political analysts.
The Congress party, MIM, AAP and dozens of other parties took part in these polls without any strong opposition alliance. This presented a strong opportunity for the ruling saffron party to consolidate its strength and deliver a stunning victory. This may be the scenario in Telangana where the pro-BRS vote will become consolidated and anti-BRS vote may be split between Congress and the BJP no matter how much strength they put up a fight for. In the final scenario, there may be even a record number of seats for BRS and to the least, a victory is most likely possible even if seats are reduced compared to 2018 polls.
The communists may add good strength to TRS in Khammam and Nalgonda districts while MIM too may sail with the BRS party. As a national party-to-be, it will be a very tough fight for KCR, but if the same trend of disparate opposition continues, then it may be a cakewalk for CM KCR at home. Once he wins home, he can comfortably set his sights on the national arena by dedicating himself exclusively for this purpose. This could give KCR the leeway to even hand over the power to his successor in Hyderabad and take on national politics in Delhi.
