Just before the election season in Andhra Pradesh back in 2019, YS Rajasekhar Reddy's biopic, Yatra was released in the theaters and it became a surprise hit. The YSR factor worked very well for the film.
Now, the makers of Yatra are milking on the sentiment again in 2024 as they have announced that the sequel for Yatra - Yatra 2, featuring Tamil actor Jeeva in the role of Jagan Mohan Reddy will be heading for release ahead of the 2024 election. The film is scheduled for release next February.
Not just that, Jagan has the politically inclined Vyooham which is directed by RGV which is also heading for release during next election season.
Vyooham will not just aim to highlight Jagan but it is also intended to belittle and defame YCP's opponents, TDP and more so, Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and Lokesh.
With this, it is evident that Jagan is launching a missile of films against his political opponents in the lead up to the coming election. This is an interesting passage for the Telugu film with the film industry and politics interluding ahead of the coming AP elections season.
