Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections, the Congress party on Saturday alleged the their primary national rival wants to assassinate their party chief, Mallikarjun Kharge, and his family. Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the BJP is stooping to the lowest level of politics.
"BJP leaders are hatching a plot to murder Mallikarjun Kharge and his family members. This is now clear from the recording of BJP's candidate from Chittapur (in Karnataka)," Surjewala said.
The Congressman described the local BJP leader as the blue-eyed boy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
BJP supporters are likely to see the allegation as a desperate attempt by the opposition party to shape the pre-election narrative in its favour. In the past few days, Congress has had outdo the impact of Modi's road shows in multiple ways. It has promised to build multiple Hanuman temples across the State if voted to power.
