She is planning bomb blasts ahead of local body elections: BJP

The BJP has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of planning to intimidate TMC's rivals ahead of the Panchayat elections in the State. The allegation was made after about 20 persons (early reports put the number at 7) were killed in an intense explosion at an illegal firecracker manufacturing factory in Purba Medinipur's Egra on Thursday. The factory is run by a TMC leader, reports say.

Purba Medinipur where BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari hails from. BJP leaders have accused the TMC of promoting the large-scale manufacture of bombs before the Panchayat elections.

BJP National Spokesperson Amit Malviya wrote that bomb-making is the only cottage industry that is flourishing in Bengal at an industrial scale. "These crude bombs were to be used, in all probability, with impunity, by the ruling TMC, during Panchayat elections, which are due in a few months," he further added.
